After 9 years as a wedding photographer, I finally have the opportunity to plan my own wedding and marry my love, Jairo! And so, the photographer becomes the bride.
Jairo and I eagerly awaited our engagement session at the Griffith Observatory, excited to have my incredible friend, Shauntelle Sposto behind the lens. Planning two outfits for the session was a TASK. I wanted a fitted white dress with some feminine accents as my first look. The dress that won me over was the Silk and Wool design by Alexia Marîa. My second look was a colorful gown from Neiman Marcus designed by Monique Lhuillier.
Both dresses paired well with Jairo’s navy suit. Our session felt like we were in Santorini with our white and blue palette and the timeless backdrop and leading lines of the Observatory. With her creative vision and expertise, Shauntelle guided us through various locations within the observatory, making the most of the architectural beauty and celestial ambiance and navigating crowds to make it look like we had the place to ourselves. Her direction ensured that every frame was thoughtfully composed and perfectly composed.
Our Griffith Observatory Engagement is a significant location because Los Angeles is the city we first met in thanks to Jairo’s sister, Jess. I met Jess, a talented cookie artist and owner of Little Sparks Cookies 5 years ago through Instagram. We became fast friends and just a month later, I was introduced to her big brother. Jairo is a million miler with Delta, so the chances of meeting someone who travels the world for work was serendipity.
Jess made us some gorgeous engagement cookies for our session complete with wisteria designed icing, our favorite flower. It was hard to pick some favorite images from our session because Shauntelle is a true artist and took so many incredible photos. Hope you enjoy and please save inspiration for your own engagement session!
