Are you in need up updated headshots? Cropping a photo of yourself from a party for your professional online profile isn’t cutting it anymore. Trust me, I’ve done it too!
What to wear for your headshots
I’m here to encourage you instead of overwhelm you on how you can best prepare for your upcoming headshot session:
- First off, bring Props such as; glasses, even glass frame will do for non-glass wearers, beanies, etc. Adding a prop can dramatically change one photo to the next. If you are normally a glasses wearer, consider wearing contacts so you have options once you’re choosing your top images.
-
For ladies, don’t shy away from a bold lip. It can compliment your eye color in a image and make it that much more effective. Remember, lighting is a main factor and you don’t want to look washed out because you played it too neutral.
-
Second, Layers layers layers – a blazer, a leather jacket, a sweater are just a few examples. Layers add color, style, fit, and flattering lines. They can dress you up and dress you down – you can go from “girl next door” to young mom with a simple cardigan!
- For gentlemen! Start your session with some scruff so you have an edgier look to start with for more of a theatrical feel. About half way through a session, plan on looking clean shaven so you have a full commercial, upbeat and youthful second look to feature.
After all, Your photographer is someone you want to best represent YOU, don’t shy away from asking plenty of questions so you feel at ease with your clothing, hair and makeup choices for your session!
